A right activist, Comrade Adeosun Adekunle, expressed excitement over the commissioning of a couple of roads around the ever busy Oniru and Victoria Island (VI) of Lagos State by the State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
Adeosun, who is the Convener of a pan-Yoruba socio-cultural and political organisation, Egbe Omo Yoruba Ronu, in a signed release in Lagos said the governor’s foresightedness on the roads around the axis has sent a wave of relief to the minds of the residents around and along the axis.
According to him, the seven (7) commissioned roads would ease the traffic hiccups being always encountered on the ever busy Oniru and Victoria Island axis of Lagos State, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Thursday, commissioned seven roads around Iru and Victoria Island axis.
The seven roads commissioned by the governor Thursday are: 1- Four Points Sheraton junction,. 2-Akinbolagbe junction. 3- Muri-Okunola junction. 4- Ligali-Ayorinde. 5- Okene road junction. 6- Ajose Adeogun junction and 7-New Extension Road (Maroko).
Adeosun, in the press release agreed with the governor that the road infrastructure was truly in fulfilment of his electioneering promises, commending the governor for completing the project less than a year. The governor flagged off the construction of the roads last year December.
The pro-democracy crusader said, the low level of productivity and economic activities along the axis occasioned by the traffic hiccups would subside and therefore allow business and economic activities to be on the increase, thanking God that the governor has finally come to the resident who ply their trade in the area.
Other governments and tiers of government across the country are therefore admonished to emulate the Lagos helms man in utilising partnership with public-spirited corporate organisations to embark on improvement and development projects like road infrastructure.
The governor was quoted in a report that, this project was executed through the Public Infrastructure Improvement Partnership (PIIP) arrangement that has since led to an improvement in road connectivity and traffic flow.
Adeosun further exhibited the delight that, the way the projects were carried out, the issues of waste of time on traveling and perennial flooding in the axis have been eliminated, thanking Governor Sanwo-Olu for walking his talk through various developmental projects he has been spraying indiscriminately across the state.
Concluding, the elated right activist therefore enjoin the residents to give Sanwo-Olu’s administration maximum support to bring out the best from him for the sake of democracy dividends for all and sundry.
