The Mosque Guidance and Development Lagos Initiative (MGDLI) has urged Muslims across Lagos State to participate in its forthcoming three-day anniversary programme aimed at promoting effective mosque administration, cleanliness and community development.
The programme, scheduled for October 30 to November 1, 2026, will hold at the Lagos State First Secretariat Mosque Hall (Olanike Hall), Shamsi Adisa Thomas Central Mosque, Ikeja GRA, Lagos.
The organisation extended the invitation to Imams, mosque administrators, Islamic scholars, youth groups, Muslim professionals, community leaders and other members of the Muslim Ummah.
MGDLI said active participation was essential to its vision of building stronger, cleaner, safer and better-managed mosques that respond effectively to the needs of worshippers and surrounding communities.
It stressed that mosque development should not be left solely to Imams and mosque committees, noting that every Muslim had a role to play in promoting accountability, cleanliness and service to humanity.
“The responsibility of developing our mosques does not rest solely on Imams and mosque committees. Every Muslim has a role to play in building institutions that reflect the values of Islam, accountability, cleanliness and service to humanity,” the organisation said.
The anniversary programme will feature special prayers during the Jumu’ah service, health outreach activities, sanitation and hygiene training, first-aid sensitisation, a keynote lecture and networking sessions.
According to MGDLI, the activities are designed to equip participants with relevant knowledge, encourage the exchange of ideas and strengthen efforts to improve mosque administration and community welfare.
The organisation added that the initiative aligns with Islamic teachings on cleanliness, good governance, communal responsibility and mutual support.
“This gathering is not merely an anniversary celebration; it is a call to action for Muslims to work collectively towards building stronger institutions and healthier communities,” it said.
As part of the programme, participants will benefit from a medical outreach organised in collaboration with the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital Muslim Nurse Forum.
The outreach will provide free health checks, blood pressure and blood sugar screening, counselling and referrals.
MGDLI also called on philanthropists, Islamic organisations, corporate bodies and other community stakeholders to support the anniversary programme and partner with the initiative on future mosque development projects.
It urged members of the Ummah to seize the opportunity to contribute to efforts aimed at improving mosques and strengthening community welfare.
“Together, we can build better and cleaner mosques, stronger communities and a brighter future for coming generations,” the organisation added.
