The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has been commended for her role in advancing Nigeria’s economic diplomacy on the international stage.

The Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, gave this commendation during a courtesy visit to the First Lady at the State House, Abuja. She noted that Senator Tinubu’s soft diplomacy has significantly contributed to Nigeria’s efforts to attract and sustain foreign direct investment (FDI).

•The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, with the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, during a courtesy visit to the State House, Abuja, on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

“When you have a First Lady who is eloquent, articulate, and intelligent—someone who truly represents our country—it becomes an advantage. She made us proud in Addis Ababa, and as she prepares to host a few First Ladies soon, her role in strengthening Nigeria’s global image cannot be overstated,” the Minister stated.

Dr. Oduwole also praised the First Lady’s humanitarian efforts through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), highlighting her dedication to poverty alleviation and support for vulnerable communities across Nigeria.

“Prosperity is a key focus for us. We want Nigerians to thrive in all they do. We are ready to partner with the First Lady in any capacity she requires our support. Likewise, we will seek her collaboration in areas where her influence can help us, particularly in engaging with traditional rulers,” she added.

Describing the meeting as enriching, the Minister expressed confidence that the collaboration between her ministry and the RHI would enhance service delivery to underserved communities.

“I take solace in having her as a mother figure to guide me. The First Lady is actively involved in charity work, especially in healthcare and education, and is making a real difference in the lives of the less privileged. We had an extensive discussion on these areas,” Dr. Oduwole remarked.

She further pledged her ministry’s support in poverty alleviation and developmental programs led by the First Lady.

Earlier, Senator Tinubu held a closed-door session with the Minister.
