Prominent stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across Yaba, Ebute Metta West and Ebute Metta East have called on Senator Oluremi Tinubu to lend her support to efforts aimed at correcting what they described as decades of political exclusion against residents of Ebute Metta West by endorsing the aspiration of Prince Hon. Abdulakeem Omolaja Animashahun for the Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency seat.

The call was made during the formal inauguration of Animashahun’s campaign, which attracted party elders, political leaders, community influencers, ward executives and supporters from different parts of the constituency.

The stakeholders argued that Senator Oluremi Tinubu, having represented Lagos Central Senatorial District in the past, possesses a deep understanding of the political dynamics and historical realities of Lagos Mainland, making her intervention crucial in ensuring fairness and balanced representation within the constituency.

They maintained that Ebute Metta West has allegedly remained sidelined in the political arrangement of the constituency for nearly three decades, stressing that the time has come for the APC leadership to embrace equity, justice and inclusion in the interest of party unity and stability.

The party faithful also reiterated their loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and reaffirmed their commitment to the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Segun Oshile reflected on his family’s long-standing involvement in Lagos Mainland politics, noting that his grandfather, the late J.B. Oshile, played a notable role in shaping political activities in the area.

He explained that his political background, rooted in the old Action Group and later the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), influenced his conviction in supporting leaders who remain connected to the grassroots and committed to community development.

Oshile described Animashahun as a dedicated and forward-thinking politician with the capacity to provide impactful representation and responsive leadership for residents of Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency.

Other speakers at the gathering emphasised the need for experienced and community-oriented leadership at the National Assembly, noting that Animashahun’s professional background as a legal practitioner and his grassroots political involvement position him as a credible choice for the constituency.

Mr. Anthony Clever stated that the constituency stands to benefit from a representative with both legal knowledge and strong ties to the people, while Hon. John Obalade and Mr. Femu Olayide stressed the importance of strengthening social welfare programmes and improving local governance across the constituency.

According to them, effective representation at the federal level would further support ongoing developmental initiatives within the various communities that make up Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency.

The stakeholders also urged APC members and delegates to participate fully in the party’s primary election scheduled for May 15, while calling for massive support for Animashahun’s ambition.

In his address, Prince Hon. Abdulakeem Omolaja Animashahun expressed appreciation to party members and residents for their support and confidence in his aspiration, stating that his ambition is centred on service, inclusiveness and grassroots development.

He said his proposed agenda would focus on youth empowerment, economic opportunities, women participation and vocational development programmes aimed at improving the standard of living of residents across the constituency.

Animashahun further assured constituents that, if elected, he would maintain close engagement with the people and champion policies that directly address the needs and aspirations of the grassroots.
