A pro-democracy and human rights non-governmental organization (NGO), Youth Advocacy Initiative (YAI), has taken a critical look at the performance of the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu over the last 26 months and declared that, “the man is doing well in the state for the people of the state,
Giving this verdict on behalf of the organization was its Convener, Adekunle Akinde, at a media parley in Lagos Wednesday, where he said that, going round the nook and cranny of the state would convince even the doubting Thomases the governor has been touching the lives of the citizenry positively.
The youthful NGO boss said, sentiment apart, apart from spreading concrete projects indiscriminately across the state, the projects are solid and durable, stating emphatically that, “Sanwo-Olu seems to have determined to leave a durable legacy behind after his tenures in office.
According to him, the way the humble workaholic is moving in terms of infrastructure development, Sanwo-Olu stands a good chance of clinching a second term in office effortlessly, reminding that, since Lagos State people cherish undiluted dividends of democracy, the may not want to change a winning team.
Akinde further called the people’s attention to the governor’s team of high calibre technocrats, astute politicians, learned academicians and tested professionals across various fields of human endeavour, saying, “This solid combination has been giving Sanwo-Olu’s administration a very good name of which the residents are very proud of.”
Buttressing his assertion, the YAI Convener said, Sanwo-Olu’s performance is so visible that it has earned him a couple of Award both within and outside the country, reminding that, just sometimes ago, he won the 2020 Vanguard Personality of the year Award, which he described as testimony that his achievements are being notice and appreciated.
“Much earlier, Sanwo-Olu’s performances had caught the attention of local and international professional organizations, which commended him and honoured him with Awards. Mention can be made of the AfriSAFE international Award from the Health, Environment and Safety (HSE), Professionals/Practitioners for the Africa Safety Award for Excellence (AfriSAFE) 2020 ICON of the year. Governor Sanwo-Olu was nominated along with other notable international personalities for the Award.
“His performance during the high tempo of the coronavirus pandemic in the world also attracted commendations from two international bodies, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the United Nation (UN). So with the above mentioned feats, coupled with his performance across all the sectors of the economy in the state, it could not be an over statement to conclude that the 56 years old governor is doing well,” Akinde submitted.
While urging the people to give the governor maximum support to do more, he also urged him to continue the good works that have been according him national and global honours, reminding him that, “Award for good job is also a clarion call to do more.”
