Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has signed the 2025 Appropriation Bill into law, unveiling a historic ₦3.37 trillion budget tagged the “Budget of Sustainability.”
The budget, which prioritizes capital expenditure, is poised to drive economic growth and enhance the quality of life for residents.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the budget as a strategic framework for consolidating past achievements and laying the foundation for a sustainable future.
Of the total budget, ₦1.30 trillion has been allocated to recurrent expenditure, ensuring the smooth operation of government activities and supporting critical sectors such as education, healthcare, and security.
The governor highlighted the state’s focus on infrastructure, innovation, and sustainable development, with significant investment channeled toward transformative projects.
“This budget is more than just numbers; it reflects our unwavering commitment to building a Lagos that works for everyone,” Sanwo-Olu said.
Key allocations in the budget include infrastructure development, housing, youth empowerment, and social interventions, all aligned with the administration’s vision for a “Greater Lagos.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude to the Lagos State House of Assembly for its collaboration and the residents of Lagos for their trust.
“2025 is a year of bold actions and sustainable progress,” he said, pledging to ensure the budget’s effective implementation for long-term impact.
