Speaking at the Legislative Council Chamber, the council boss described the budget as a “social contract and roadmap for development,” emphasizing transparency, fiscal responsibility, and resilience in the face of rising inflation, urban pressures, and security challenges.
The HEYIGA Agenda, built on six pillars—Health, Education, Youth & Women Empowerment, Infrastructure, Greener Environment, and Agriculture—will serve as the guiding framework for the year’s projects.
Key Highlights of the 2026 Budget
• Infrastructure & Environment: Massive rehabilitation of inner roads, drainage systems, and flood control initiatives.
• Healthcare: Upgrading primary health centres, expanding maternal and child health services, and strengthening outreach programmes.
• Education & Human Capital: Improved teacher welfare, primary school support, and vocational training for youths.
