The Executive Chairman of Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Akinola Abiodun Idowu, has marked his first year in office with a celebration of achievements and the empowerment of 400 residents with ₦40 million under the council’s monthly financial empowerment programme.
The anniversary celebration, held at the Orile-Agege LCDA Secretariat, brought together government officials, political leaders, traditional rulers, community stakeholders, residents and other guests.
Speaking at the event, Idowu expressed appreciation to the people of Orile-Agege for the confidence reposed in his administration over the past year, reaffirming his commitment to people-centred governance, sustainable grassroots development and inclusive growth across the council area.
The chairman highlighted some of the achievements recorded by his administration in infrastructure development, education, primary healthcare, environmental sanitation, youth and women empowerment, security and economic development.
According to him, the milestones achieved within the first year were made possible through prudent management of resources, teamwork and the support of residents and other stakeholders.
Idowu assured residents that his administration would build on the progress already recorded by embarking on more developmental projects, expanding empowerment initiatives and strengthening social intervention programmes across the six wards of the LCDA.
He also expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Governor, members of the Lagos State House of Assembly, the Legislative Council, management and staff of the council, party leaders, traditional rulers, community stakeholders and residents for their continued support and cooperation.
The chairman assured residents that his administration would remain committed to ensuring that the dividends of democracy were felt across every part of Orile-Agege.
Earlier, in her welcome address, the Council Manager described the first year of the administration as one characterised by transparency, accountability and inclusive governance.
She noted that although significant progress had been recorded within the first twelve months, the administration was poised to consolidate its achievements through the implementation of more people-oriented projects in the years ahead.
The highlight of the anniversary was the presentation of ₦100,000 each to 400 beneficiaries, totalling ₦40 million, under the council’s monthly financial empowerment programme.
The initiative is designed to support petty traders, artisans, widows and unemployed youths, while promoting economic self-reliance and improving the livelihoods of residents.
Those in attendance included the council’s Vice Chairman, members of the Legislative Council, management team, APC chieftains, traditional rulers, community leaders, market leaders, youth and women groups, religious leaders, beneficiaries and members of the media.
Participants at the event commended the administration for its commitment to grassroots development and inclusive governance.
