The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has set its sights on delivering significantly higher votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
The party leadership said the move is part of efforts to reward Tinubu for providing political opportunities for party members and for his contributions to the development of Lagos State, including the creation of additional local council development areas that expanded grassroots governance.
The Lagos APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, made this known while administering the oath of office to the newly elected state executives of the party at the APC secretariat in Acme, Ogba.
Ojelabi described the responsibility before the new executives as crucial, noting that they are assuming office at a time when preparations for the 2027 general elections are gradually taking shape, including the process that will produce the party’s candidates.
He said the performance of the new leadership would be closely monitored by party members and supporters, stressing that they must build on the party’s long-standing political success in Lagos State since 1999.
The APC chairman urged the executives to remain united and avoid divisive tendencies that could weaken the party’s structure ahead of the elections. He emphasised that cooperation and collective commitment would be essential for the party to maintain its electoral strength.
He also encouraged party leaders to actively participate in ward and local government meetings, noting that sustained engagement at the grassroots level would strengthen the party’s base and enhance its chances at the polls.
Ojelabi further expressed confidence that the administration of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu would continue to provide the necessary support to enable the party achieve its electoral goals in 2027.
A total of 37 party executives emerged during the Lagos APC State Congress held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos, where they were endorsed to lead the party at the state level.
