The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has inaugurated ten Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI)/ National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Digital Learning Centres across ten states of the federation.

Speaking during the virtual inauguration ceremony held in her office, the First Lady emphasized that the sustained advancement of digital literacy is already driving inclusive growth across the country.

The ten newly commissioned digital learning centres, located in Abia, Delta, Edo, Kano, Katsina, Lagos, Nasarawa, Ondo, Yobe, and Zamfara States, are designed to expand youth empowerment and digital inclusion nationwide.

“I urge members of the various beneficiary communities to make good use of these facilities to enhance learning, creativity, and entrepreneurship—thereby improving livelihoods and contributing to national development,” she stated.

Senator Tinubu further noted that, “Today’s commissioning presents another opportunity, under the mandate of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, to further expand digital access across the country. By providing communities with the resources required to develop ICT skills, we are empowering our people to participate meaningfully in the digital economy. This aligns with one of the key priority areas of the Renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR—to accelerate economic diversification through industrialization and digitalization.”

She added that the nation looks forward to the full actualization of digitizing various sectors such as farming, petty trading, and similar ventures, which would ultimately enhance ease of doing business and increase profitability.

In his remarks, the Director-General of NITDA, Mallam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, reiterated that digital transformation is key to accelerating economic diversification and development.

“This signifies unlocking potential across various sectors, especially among women and youth,” he said. “Through its various collaborations, the Renewed Hope Initiative is empowering many Nigerians and serving as an enabler to drive national prosperity and inclusivity.”

Wives of state governors from the beneficiary states participated virtually from their respective locations during the inauguration.

The commissioning of these centres by the First Lady marks another significant milestone in the ongoing partnership between RHI and NITDA to deepen the adoption and utilization of digital tools by women and youth across Nigeria.

In addition to the 296 digital centres already established under this administration—15 of which were built in collaboration with RHI—NITDA is working to construct an additional 148 digital infrastructure projects across other parts of the country, bringing the total to 592 centres by 2027.
