On the occasion of World Malaria Day 2025, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, has described malaria as not just a public health challenge, but a national emergency.

She emphasized that Nigeria continues to bear the heaviest global burden of the disease and stressed the urgent need for collective action to reverse this trend.

In her message, Senator Tinubu highlighted the theme for this year’s commemoration, “Malaria Ends With Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite,” calling it both a message of hope and a rallying cry.

She urged Nigerians to renew their investment in life-saving interventions, increase awareness, and revive the collective commitment necessary to eliminate malaria once and for all.

The First Lady also reminded citizens of the importance of maintaining clean environments, stressing that stagnant water serves as a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

“We should ensure that our environment and surroundings are clean and free of stagnant water,” she said.

Senator Tinubu called on government agencies, private sector partners, NGOs, health workers, and community leaders to recommit to the fight against malaria with a sense of urgency and resolve.

“Malaria ends with us — with our voices, our choices, and our actions,” she concluded.
