Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA Doles Out N20m To 400 Women To Enhance Small Scale Businesses

In a bid to boost the activities of the small scale businesses within Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA, the sum of twenty million naira has been disbursed to 400 women as part of finacial inclusion and direct empowerment programme from the council.

The beneficiaries selected from all the jurisdiction within the council area will also enjoy free health insurance scheme in collaboration with the VFD Microfinace Bank.

In a message to the event tagged “Empowering Her Fortunes” the state Deputy Governor, Dr Kadri Hamzat said more women have become self reliant and financial bouyant as a result of various programmes targeted at women and girl child in the state.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministrty of Wealth Creation, Dr Abiodu Onayele, the Deputy Governor said any investment on women will lead to boost in socio-economic development in the state.

Kadri Hamzat disclosed that the council Chairman was among those with enviable scorecards adding deliberate care for women raises hope for a better nation.

Hon Julius Solomon who spoke on behalf of Prince Tajudeen Olusi, GAC member commended the Chairman for always given back to the society.

He expressed joy with the execution of people’s oriented project which he said will lessen the pressure on the state government.

Prince noted that despite the allocation of huge resources to financial empowerment of residents, the infrastructural development keeps growing in the LCDA.

On his part, the council chairman, Fuad Atanda-Lawal said their

commitments to providing support for all the residents especially women in particular is non negotiable.

According to hm, the women multiplies the wealth and opportunity put in their care and appealed to them to take full advantage of the financial support.

He promised to continue with welfare programme until the last days in office adding the multipler effect of the support will soon manifest in the council area.

The council Manager, Engineer Johnson expressed happiness with the people oriented projects being executed by the team.

Mr Nomso Okpara said the collaboration with the council is encouraging saying it will change the landscape of the community.

For the General Manager Business Banking and Partnership of the bank, Yonodu okeugo said the women stand to benefit immensely from the free health insurance scheme.

She said empowering women is a core value of what the bank is all about noting they sponsored over 2,000 women two years ago in IT skills, 300 in Agriculture sector and also a few girls with opportunity in tthe Music industry

Elizabeth Olufemi cautioned  the women against frivolous spending now that they have receives support externally.

Elizabeth Olufemi who spoke on how to maximise finance, believe that the current economic situation in the country was more than enough to teach everyone financial literacy.

She also urged them to develope a saving culture for the rainy day no matter how little their profit margin is.

The leaders in the council area Mrs Omolara Vaughan and Hajia Moji Dange tanked the chairman for the gathering in which provvided opportunity on how to save and spend wisely.

Some of the beneficiaries including Habibat Oluwatosin Ahmad who is into POS operation and Egugu Rasheedat, a cow skin seller thanked the Council Chairman for according priority to the plight of women and promised judicious use of the funds.
