In today’s evolving political landscape, the call for increased female representation in governance is no longer a matter of sentiment—it is a necessity for inclusive, balanced, and sustainable development. Alimosho Federal Constituency, being one of the most populous and politically significant constituencies in Nigeria, deserves a representative who embodies competence, compassion, and proven leadership. This is why the All Progressives Congress (APC) should prioritise and support Pharm. (Mrs.) Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf for the Green Chamber.

1. Gender Inclusion Strengthens Governance

Women bring a unique perspective to leadership—often prioritising social welfare, education, healthcare, and community development. Globally, societies that embrace gender-balanced governance experience better policy outcomes and stronger social cohesion. Allowing a capable woman like Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf to represent Alimosho would signal the APC’s commitment to progressive and inclusive leadership.

2. Proven Track Record in Public Service

Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf is not new to governance. Her tenure as Commissioner for Youth and Social Development in Lagos State showcased her ability to drive impactful policies, empower young people, and support vulnerable groups. Her leadership style is practical, people-oriented, and results-driven—qualities that are essential at the national assembly.

3. Deep Understanding of Grassroots Realities

Having worked closely with communities across Lagos, she understands the real needs of the people—employment, skills development, social protection, and youth engagement. Alimosho, with its diverse and dynamic population, requires a representative who is not detached from the grassroots but deeply rooted in it.

4. Youth and Women Empowerment Advocate

Her consistent focus on youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, and women’s inclusion aligns with the pressing needs of Alimosho constituents. She has been instrumental in creating opportunities for thousands of young people, making her well-positioned to champion policies that will reduce unemployment and improve livelihoods.

5. Capacity to Deliver at the National Level

Representation at the Green Chamber demands more than popularity—it requires legislative competence, policy insight, and negotiation skills. Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf possesses these attributes, backed by her professional background as a pharmacist and her extensive experience in governance.

6. Strengthening APC’s Political Appeal

Presenting a credible female candidate like Uzamat would enhance APC’s image as a forward-thinking party that values merit over bias. It would also attract broader support from women, youth, and undecided voters who are increasingly advocating for gender equity in leadership.

7. A Symbol of Merit, Not Just Gender

While gender inclusion is important, Uzamat’s candidacy is not based solely on being a woman—it is anchored in competence, experience, and a verifiable record of impact. She represents the ideal blend of professionalism and political acumen.

Conclusion

Alimosho Federal Constituency deserves representation that reflects its strength, diversity, and aspirations. By giving priority to Pharm. (Mrs.) Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf, APC would not only be promoting gender inclusion but also presenting a candidate with the capacity to deliver meaningful change at the national level.

The time has come to move beyond rhetoric and take deliberate action—support capable women, strengthen democracy, and build a more inclusive future for Alimosho.
