…Condemns Alleged Irregularities in APC Reps Primary, Rejects Reported Imposition of Olabisi Adebajo

The Conference of Alimosho Federal Constituency Councillors Forum, alongside 116 supervisors and special advisers, has declared its support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Idiat Adebule for Lagos West Senatorial District, Hon. Lukman Orelope for Alimosho Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, and Hon. Kehinde Joseph for Alimosho Constituency II, while also endorsing the governorship aspiration of Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Kadri Hamzat.

The forum also passed a vote of confidence in Hon. Ganiyu Ayuba as its preferred candidate for the Alimosho Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.

However, the stakeholders strongly condemned what they described as alleged interference and manipulation in the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary election in Alimosho Federal Constituency, which they said was won by Hon. Ganiyu Ayuba, but is now being challenged in favour of the immediate past Chairman of Mosan-Okunola LCDA, Hon. Olabisi Adebajo.

The position was made known at a well-attended press conference held at the Alimosho Local Government Secretariat, where the forum insisted that the outcome of the primary must be respected and upheld in the interest of internal democracy.

The councillors recalled that Hon. Ayuba reportedly emerged victorious in the primary election with 37,021 votes, ahead of Hon. Olabisi Adebajo, who polled 2,793 votes.

They maintained that Ayuba remains the choice of party members, grassroots leaders, and stakeholders across Alimosho Federal Constituency.

Addressing journalists on behalf of the forum, the councillors alleged that certain influential party figures were attempting to alter the outcome of the exercise through undue political pressure and external interference.

They further expressed concern over alleged efforts to impose Hon. Olabisi Adebajo as the APC candidate for the constituency, warning that such actions could undermine party unity.

The forum also questioned the alleged involvement of Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, insisting that the integrity of the APC’s internal democratic process must be protected from manipulation or personal interests.

According to the councillors, the APC in Alimosho has long been sustained on the principles of fairness, inclusiveness, and grassroots participation, cautioning that any attempt to override the will of party members could create unnecessary tension within the constituency.

They described the alleged move as an attempt to disregard the democratic choice of delegates who participated in the primary election.

“No individual, regardless of influence or position, should override the collective decision of party members through intimidation or backdoor arrangements,” the forum stated.

Reaffirming their loyalty to the APC, the councillors stressed the need to protect internal democracy as a foundation for unity and electoral success.

They called on the leadership of the APC at both state and national levels to urgently intervene and review concerns surrounding the primary election to ensure fairness, stability, and confidence among party members.

The forum warned that failure to address the situation could deepen divisions within the party ahead of future elections.

They also urged party members, youths, and women across Alimosho to remain peaceful and law-abiding while pursuing legitimate channels for redress.
