The FoodClique Support Initiative has lauded the launch of the National Food Bank Programme spearheaded by Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, describing it as a bold and strategic intervention to combat hunger and food insecurity nationwide.
The commendation was made during the organisation’s recent outreach in Makoko, where stakeholders highlighted the significance of the programme in expanding access to food and improving nutrition among vulnerable populations.
Chief Executive Officer of FoodClique Support Initiative, Ibrahim Onilegbale, said the initiative reflects a decisive national response to the growing challenge of food insecurity. He noted that the programme’s framework has the potential to deliver meaningful and lasting impact across communities.
According to him, the National Food Bank Programme is a timely effort that demonstrates commitment at the highest level of leadership to address hunger and support disadvantaged groups with dignity.
Also speaking, the organisation’s Head of Programmes, Faruk Adetola, praised the structure and long-term vision of the initiative, pointing out that its success would depend largely on effective partnerships and transparent implementation.
He reiterated FoodClique’s willingness to collaborate with government and other stakeholders to strengthen the reach of the programme, adding that sustained collective action remains key to reducing hunger and improving livelihoods.
The National Food Bank Programme is expected to play a pivotal role in addressing food distribution challenges while ensuring that critical support reaches those most in need across the country.
