The Executive Director of the Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV), Gbenga Soloki, has remembered his late mother, Mama Deaconess Felicia Omisanjo, six months after her passing, describing her as a woman whose prayers, values and love continue to guide the family.
Soloki, in a personal statement issued on Thursday, said his mother’s teachings on truth, compassion and service continued to inspire his work at CAIDOV.
He said, “Mama, six months without you, but your voice is still in my head every day. You taught us to stand for truth, to defend the weak and to serve with compassion. Those are the same values that drive the work we do at the Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence.
“You were our first counsellor. You settled quarrels, you prayed for the broken and you opened your home to anyone in need. As a Deaconess, you lived your faith and you lived justice before I ever knew the word.
“Our family has lost a matriarch, and I have lost my greatest supporter. But your legacy lives on in our children, in our community and in every life we touch through service.
“We miss you. We honour you. And we will keep your name alive through good works.”
The Soloki family will commemorate the six month anniversary with prayers and an outreach programme for widows and vulnerable families, causes that were said to have been dear to the late Deaconess.
Mama Deaconess Felicia Omisanjo was widely known for her faith, generosity and commitment to promoting peace in homes and the wider community.
The family also expressed appreciation to relatives, friends and well wishers who have continued to support them with prayers and encouragement over the past six months.
Soloki added, “Till we meet again in glory. Rest in perfect peace, Mama.”
