The Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV) has demanded an immediate and transparent investigation into the Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, which reportedly claimed 32 lives.
CAIDOV, in a condolence message signed by its Executive Director, Comrade Gbenga Soloki, described the incident as a national tragedy and a devastating loss to the Nigerian Armed Forces and the country.
The group said the ill-fated Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 aircraft, with registration number NGR 931, was carrying 25 passengers and seven crew members when it crashed on Monday, October 5, 2026.
According to the group, the aircraft was on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos when it lost contact with air traffic controllers at about 9:13 a.m. and subsequently crashed near the Naval Base in Igbokoda, where the wreckage was later discovered.
CAIDOV called on the Federal Government and the Nigerian Air Force authorities to institute an immediate, thorough and transparent investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash and establish the cause or causes of the tragedy.
The organisation commiserated with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Nigerian Air Force, the families and colleagues of the deceased personnel, as well as Nigerians over the loss.
It prayed for the repose of the souls of those who died in the crash and asked God to grant their families, colleagues and loved ones the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
