Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commended the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems for its significant contributions to the overall success of his administration.

The Governor said the Ministry, through numerous impactful programmes and initiatives, has directly touched the lives of stakeholders across the agricultural value chain, promoting self-empowerment and driving socio-economic development in the state.

Sanwo-Olu gave the commendation while leading other dignitaries, including traditional rulers, captains of industry, lawmakers and members of the State Executive Council, to the 2025 Lagos Food Festival organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos.

He also praised the Ministry under the leadership of the Commissioner, Ms. Abisola Olusanya, for strengthening food security in the state, noting that key interventions have helped stabilise food prices across the metropolis.

According to the Governor, the festival, which marked the climax of the Ministry’s major activities for the year 2025, provided an opportunity for families to enjoy and explore diverse food offerings from across the state in one location.

Sanwo-Olu, fondly referred to as “Chef Jide” after briefly showcasing his cooking skills at the festival, said the massive turnout of residents from different backgrounds was a clear reflection of the unity in diversity for which Lagos is known.

He added that the Food Festival successfully told the Lagos story to a global audience while creating opportunities for young agripreneurs to tap into the vast business potential within the agricultural sector.

In her remarks, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Ms. Abisola Olusanya, described the festival as a celebration of Lagos’ culinary culture, tradition, entertainment and the unique elements that define the state’s multicultural identity.

She noted that food embodies the spirit of Lagos and explained that the event was organised to celebrate all stakeholders within the food and agriculture ecosystem.

Olusanya disclosed that the platform showcased Lagos culture, traditions, and diverse cuisines, while also providing opportunities for networking among attendees and enabling vendors to record brisk business.

The event, which attracted a capacity crowd, was the fifth edition of the Lagos Food Festival and was themed Taste Without Borders.
