Lagos State Deputy Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has challenged residents to hold him accountable for his promises, declaring that his proposed administration would be judged by its performance and delivery of tangible results.
Hamzat made the declaration on Friday while unveiling his 100-point development agenda, The Lagos Promise (Ìlérí Èkó), and officially flagging off his campaign at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, Iganmu, Lagos.
The manifesto, which outlines his vision for the state, focuses on inclusive governance, economic expansion, infrastructure renewal, security, institutional efficiency and an improved standard of living for residents.
Describing the agenda as a deliberate roadmap for transformation rather than political rhetoric, Hamzat said his proposed administration would build on the achievements of previous governments while addressing emerging challenges and creating new opportunities for Lagosians.
The unveiling attracted a mammoth crowd, including Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; APC State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi; Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, Director-General of the PBAT-KOH Campaign Organisation; members of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC); and federal and state lawmakers.
At the heart of the manifesto is a people-centred development philosophy anchored on seven strategic pillars represented by the acronym PROMISE: People First, Renewal, Opportunity, Machinery of Government, Inclusion, Security and Resilience, and Everyday Dignity.
The framework, according to Hamzat, is designed to strengthen public institutions, expand economic opportunities, promote responsive leadership and ensure that the dividends of development reach communities across Lagos.
Giving a strong endorsement of his deputy, Governor Sanwo-Olu described their seven-year working relationship as a productive partnership built on trust, competence and a shared commitment to the development of the state.
The governor likened their partnership to a relay race, stressing that leadership requires a seamless transfer of responsibility to sustain ongoing programmes and preserve the gains of previous administrations.
He commended Hamzat’s technical expertise as an engineer and his contributions to major infrastructure projects, particularly the Blue Line and Red Line rail systems, alongside other critical investments undertaken by the administration.
Sanwo-Olu said Lagos could not afford to abandon its development trajectory, particularly in transportation, rail infrastructure and airport-related projects, insisting that future administrations must inherit completed projects rather than unfinished commitments.
He also called for sustained innovation, improved public service delivery and policies that respond to the evolving needs of the state’s growing population.
In his remarks, APC State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to a development-driven vision that would sustain progress while strengthening its political structures.
Speaking on behalf of the Governor’s Advisory Council, Princess Sarah Sosan expressed confidence in Hamzat’s candidacy, emphasising the importance of unity, experience and continuity in advancing Lagos’ development.
She urged party members and stakeholders to close ranks and work collectively towards the party’s electoral objectives.
Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, Director-General of the PBAT-KOH Campaign Organisation, described the manifesto as a critical instrument for the campaign, urging stakeholders to effectively communicate Hamzat’s vision and development priorities to residents.
With The Lagos Promise, Hamzat has positioned his governorship bid around economic growth, institutional reforms, social inclusion and sustainable infrastructure, presenting a development agenda that seeks to consolidate Lagos’ achievements while preparing the state for emerging challenges.
