Galatasaray fans witnessed a night to remember on Saturday as the Turkish champions officially unveiled Nigerian superstar Victor Osimhen and German winger Leroy Sané at RAMS Park, ahead of their pre-season clash with Serie A side Lazio.
Billed as one of the most electrifying transfer reveals in Turkish football history, the double unveiling drew tens of thousands of ecstatic fans to the Ali Sami Yen Sports Complex. The club rolled out a dazzling show complete with lights, music, and an atmosphere befitting two of Europe’s most high-profile signings.
The event marked the culmination of Galatasaray’s most ambitious transfer window, as the Super Lig titleholders strengthened their squad with two marquee players in a bold push for continental glory.
Osimhen, 26, joined the club permanently from Napoli after a phenomenal loan spell in which he scored 37 goals and provided 8 assists in 41 matches, helping Galatasaray clinch both the Super Lig title and Turkish Cup. His transfer fee of €75 million shattered Turkish records, making it the most expensive signing in the country’s football history.
The deal includes an initial €40 million payment, €5 million in performance-related bonuses, and the remaining sum to be paid over two years. Napoli will also receive 10 percent of any future sale. Osimhen signed a four-year contract worth €15 million annually, excluding earnings from endorsements and image rights.
Sané, meanwhile, arrived on a free transfer following his departure from Bayern Munich. The German international signed a three-year deal reportedly worth £10–11 million per season, bringing elite pace, flair, and Champions League pedigree to Galatasaray’s attacking line.
Club officials estimated that the unveiling alone could generate €6–7 million in revenue through merchandise, ticket sales, and sponsorships—underscoring the commercial and sporting magnitude of both signings.
A day prior to the ceremony, Galatasaray Vice President Abdullah Kavukcu revealed the extraordinary financial sacrifice Osimhen made to finalise the move.
“The amount Victor gave up to come here is truly enormous. He gave up a sum no other player would ever give up, and we are happy to have him,” Kavukcu said during a press briefing on Friday.
Despite lucrative offers from Juventus and Saudi giants Al-Hilal—including a reported €40 million-a-year contract from the latter—Osimhen chose to stay with Galatasaray, citing emotional and personal reasons.
“This is where I can express myself fully through my football and with everything that I am,” Osimhen said during his first official interview with the club on its YouTube channel. “I’m truly grateful to everyone who worked to bring me here. I came because I love this place, and I feel good here.”
His emotional connection to the club was evident earlier in the week, when thousands of fans flooded Atatürk Airport and lined the streets of Istanbul to welcome him in scenes reminiscent of a state arrival.
With Osimhen and Sané now officially part of the squad, Galatasaray have sent a clear message—not just to rivals in Turkey, but across Europe—that they are building a team capable of challenging on all fronts.
