Victor Osimhen delivered a stellar performance on Friday, netting a first-half brace to propel Nigeria’s Super Eagles to a 2-0 victory over Rwanda in a FIFA World Cup qualifier in Kigali.
The Napoli forward, who has been in scintillating form with 26 goals for his club this season, opened the scoring in the 11th minute before doubling Nigeria’s lead in first-half stoppage time.
His clinical finishing ensured a triumphant start for new Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle.
Chelle’s tactical setup, a structured 4-4-2 formation, provided Nigeria with attacking fluidity while keeping Rwanda’s Amavubi (The Wasps) on the back foot for most of the game.
The victory also broke a streak of two consecutive draws between both teams in Kigali, reaffirming Nigeria’s dominance in the qualifiers.
With this win, the Super Eagles take a crucial step forward in their World Cup qualification campaign, setting the tone for future fixtures under Chelle’s leadership.
