A non-governmental organisation championing the fight against hunger in Nigeria, the FoodClique Support Initiative, has called on the Federal Government and key stakeholders to renew their commitment to achieving the United Nations’ Zero Hunger target by 2030.

The organisation emphasized the urgency of reducing hunger to the barest minimum—if not completely eradicating it—within the next five years.

This charge was delivered by the Team Lead of FoodClique Support Initiative, Mr. Ibrahim Onilegbale, during the “Celebrating Impact Hunger Heroes: Honoring Our Collective Journey” event held at Marriott Hotel, GRA Ikeja, Lagos.

Mr. Onilegbale, who noted that FoodClique was founded 13 years ago, said the organisation believes in the power of team spirit and collaboration to end hunger in the country.

He described the volunteers, partners, and sponsors as the engine room of the group, applauding their passion and dedication during interventions, especially in nurturing a new generation of compassionate and committed Nigerians through school programs.

According to him, these partners, sponsors, and donors have amplified the organisation’s voice and strengthened its reach, serving as the backbone of FoodClique’s mission to ensure food access for all.

Reflecting on the group’s impact, Onilegbale highlighted their proactive interventions during the COVID-19 pandemic and the provision of school meals across 10 Local Government Areas in Lagos, alongside cooked food distributions in communities nationwide.

He stressed that tackling hunger requires collective effort, noting that lasting solutions will only emerge when everyone unites with a shared vision.

Also speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Noella Foundation, Mrs. Layal Tinubu, emphasized the foundation’s commitment to giving back and supporting societal growth. Represented by Justice Omenogor, she stated that hunger and unemployment remain two of the most critical issues in Nigeria today.

She added that Noella Foundation is focused on creating employment and combating poverty, which are central to making a lasting impact. Tinubu expressed confidence that many young Nigerians are ready to drive change—if only they are given the opportunity—and urged FoodClique to remain steadfast, even when their efforts might not be immediately recognized.

In a chat with newsmen, Akin Alabi, founder of Corporate Farmer, commended FoodClique for its consistent efforts in reaching out to the needy and less privileged. He called on both the government and private sector to strengthen partnerships for food accessibility and affordability.

Tomilayo Sadiq, Head of Research and Development at FoodClique, took attendees on a journey through the organisation’s milestones—from inspiring collaborations to the heartbreaking loss of Bolajoko Fadipe, which he described as a dark chapter in the group’s history.

In a second presentation, Sadiq showcased how innovation and strategic intelligence helped the FoodClique team overcome massive logistics challenges. “These innovations gave our interventions wings to fly and intensified our impact,” he noted.

In her brief remarks, Mrs. Abosede Fadipe, Director of Food Sourcing and Fundraising, thanked sponsors and volunteers for bringing the group’s vision to life. She predicted that FoodClique will become one of the greatest impact-driven brands in Africa—and the world—within the next decade.
