Over two thousand residents of Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA and its environs have benefited from the free medical outreach organized by the Seyi Tinubu Renewed Hope Youth Empowerment Initiative in collaboration with the local council authorities.

The medical outreach, held on Ojo Street in the Obalende area, provided beneficiaries with free healthcare services, including kidney tests, HIV tests, TB tests, eye screening, blood sugar level tests, and deworming.

Additionally, 500 beneficiaries were registered for a one-year free health insurance scheme under LASHMA, with all expenses covered by the Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA.

Addressing the gathering, the council chairman, Hon. Fuad Atanda-Lawal, assured that the initiative would ease the financial burden of healthcare for residents.

The council noted that 17 doctors, assisted by other medical personnel, were mobilized to ensure that beneficiaries received prompt attention, considering the ongoing Ramadan fast and Lent season.

According to Hon. Atanda-Lawal, there is no cause for concern regarding the continuity of the LASHMA free health insurance scheme after he leaves office, as payments have been made on behalf of the council and will be reflected in the handover notes to his successor.

He further disclosed that the Seyi Tinubu Renewed Hope Youth Empowerment Initiative aims to engage and train youths in various vocational skills, enabling them to become productive and self-reliant.

Dr. Adebayo Akintayo, the medical officer at the council, emphasized that a healthy population contributes positively to societal development. He noted that the initiative aligns with one of the key objectives of the Tinubu-led federal government.

Dr. Akintayo also urged residents to prioritize their health by seeking preventive care rather than waiting until conditions become critical.

Dr. Samogha Dare, who led the medical team, told newsmen that since health is wealth, no investment in ensuring a healthy society is too much.

Excited beneficiaries commended the Seyi Tinubu Renewed Hope Youth Empowerment Initiative and the council for prioritizing healthcare. They also called for the continuity of the free medical outreach and its expansion to other parts of the state to benefit more residents.
