Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has made a dramatic return to the All Progressives Congress (APC), weeks after resigning from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
His defection, announced on Monday at a press conference in Ikeja, Lagos, was not just a political move—it was a carefully orchestrated return, facilitated by key figures within the ruling party.
Jandor, who had initially left the APC in pursuit of his governorship ambition under the PDP, cited internal crises, lack of party discipline, and deliberate sabotage by PDP leaders as reasons for his departure.
However, his return to the APC was influenced by strong political persuasion, particularly from President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, and Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu.
According to Jandor, Gbajabiamila had been working behind the scenes for over a year, urging him to return “home” and realign with the APC.
He also revealed that Seyi Tinubu personally reached out to him immediately after his resignation from the PDP, reinforcing the call for his return.
“Upon hearing the news of my resignation from the PDP, the President’s son, Mr. Seyi Tinubu, immediately put a call across to say, ‘Egbon, this is the time to come back home,’” Jandor stated.
He noted that Seyi had previously reached out to him for support in ensuring the success of President Tinubu’s administration.
Reflecting on his political journey, Jandor likened his experience to a Yoruba adage about learning from different situations.
He emphasized that while APC has a leadership structure focused on winning elections, Lagos PDP has been plagued by internal betrayal.
Assuring his supporters that his return was in Lagos’ best interest, Jandor pledged to work for the progress of the state, urging them to join him in this new political chapter.
