The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s recent media chat, accusing the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration of insensitivity and disconnection from the struggles of Nigerians.
In Monday’s media session, President Tinubu defended his economic policies, highlighting financial discipline, increased development funding, and borrowing for infrastructure.
However, the PDP, through its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, expressed concerns that the administration has failed to account for savings from the removal of subsidies while Nigerians grapple with economic hardship.
“The President’s claim of no regrets for the sudden removal of fuel subsidies without cushioning measures underscores the APC’s insensitivity,” the PDP said.
Highlighting the worsening economic indicators—34.6% inflation, 40% unemployment, and a naira exchange rate of N1,700 to the dollar—the PDP condemned the administration’s handling of critical sectors like agriculture, energy, and security.
The party also pointed to recent food stampedes that claimed dozens of lives as evidence of the nation’s dire state.
Dismissing President Tinubu’s assertion of improved security and infrastructure, the PDP challenged him to travel from Abuja to Lagos by road to witness the harsh realities faced by Nigerians firsthand.
The PDP concluded by warning of no visible hope under the APC and urged the government to prioritize investments in key sectors to alleviate the plight of citizens.
