Manchester United endured a humiliating 3-0 loss at Old Trafford against Bournemouth, adding to the mounting pressure on manager Ruben Amorim.
The defeat, United’s second in four days following their League Cup exit to Tottenham, marked the worst result of Amorim’s brief tenure since taking over from Erik ten Hag in November.
Currently languishing in 13th place in the Premier League, United have now lost four of their nine matches under Amorim.
The team’s struggles were evident again as they conceded first for the sixth consecutive game. Boos from frustrated fans echoed at halftime and fulltime, with many leaving the stadium early.
Amorim’s decision to exclude Marcus Rashford for a third straight game is under renewed scrutiny, especially after another lackluster performance from his side.
Rashford, who hinted at seeking a “new challenge,” was present at Old Trafford but did not feature in the squad.
Bournemouth capitalized on United’s defensive frailties, with teenage defender Dean Huijsen heading in the opener from a free-kick in the 29th minute.
Justin Kluivert then converted a penalty in the 61st minute after Noussair Mazraoui’s foul, and Antoine Semenyo sealed the victory two minutes later with a composed finish from Dango Ouattara’s assist.
The defeat leaves United in disarray, with Amorim acknowledging the long and challenging road ahead. While it is still early in his tenure, further performances like this could erode support from both fans and players.
