As the announcement of a September date for the celebration of Yoruba culture in Lagos State gains acceptance, a pan-Lagos group committed to good governance and development in the state, Lagos People’s Assembly (LPA), has commended Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for his progressive initiative aimed at preserving Yoruba culture and heritage.
The LPA, in a press release on Friday signed by its convener, Comrade Gbenga Soloki, expressed appreciation to the state assembly for its resolution on the matter, while urging other states in the Southwest to follow Lagos’s lead by also designating a specific day to celebrate the rich Yoruba culture and heritage.
The LPA convener further advised that all interest groups in the state be involved in planning the event slated for the last week of September. In his words, “On behalf of members of our noble group, the Lagos People’s Assembly (LPA), I commend Governor Sanwoolu for the initiative to celebrate Yoruba Week in September. This is a novel and progressive idea aimed at celebrating the rich culture and tradition of the Yorubas, which will inevitably promote the tourism potentials of the state. Governor Sanwoolu has once again demonstrated that he is a diligent administrator with a passion for development.”
In conclusion, “We wish the state a wonderful time as preparations for the celebration of the maiden edition of Yoruba Week continue, and we are proud to be part of this remarkable achievement in history.”
