The wives of top government officials and other prominent female officials in Nigeria have pledged to improve the country’s image by paying more attention to their public behavior and security. This resolution was made at the conclusion of a three-day seminar on protocol and security, organized by the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, in Abuja.
The seminar featured eight presentations by experts on security, protocol, etiquette, improved public behavior, and diplomatic relations. Participants at the seminar, who included former First Ladies of Nigeria, members of the National Assembly, wives of NASS members, wives of governors and former governors, female deputy governors, ministers, wives of ministers, and wives of service chiefs, reflected on what they had learned during the three-day event. Many of them found the seminar to be eye-opening, particularly in relation to security issues.
The participants expressed their gratitude to the First Lady for enhancing their capacity as role models and image builders for the country. During the session, the First Lady and former First Ladies Turai Yaradua and Dame Patience Jonathan shared their insights, focusing on the importance of cultural intelligence, security awareness, and proper behavior both online and offline.
The seminar also included a meet and greet session with the convener, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, which provided an opportunity for participants to interact with her and exchange ideas on various topics. Additionally, the gathering had the chance to watch a video on the “Every Home a Garden” competition organized by the Renewed Hope Initiative, an initiative of Senator Oluremi Tinubu. The competition is open to women from all states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory, and encourages them to plant a garden at home that can provide food for their families and neighbors. The winner of the competition, who will be announced in December 2024, will receive a prize of N20 million.
The three-day seminar on protocol and security concluded with the presentation of certificates of participation to the more than 800 attendees.
