The Government of Sokoto state as well we all security agencies in the state have been called upon to halt the on going killing, looting and destruction of properties by some youth, protesting the arrest of one of the masterminds of the gruesome murder of a student in the state, while condemning the murder and describing such as “reckless, mindless and wicked act. ”
The admonition was given on Saturday by the Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV) in a press release signed by its Executive Director, Comrade Gbenga Soloki, where the group condemned the murder, saying that the act is barbaric and those behind it must be made to face the full wrath of the law.
CAIDOV called on the Governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Tambuwal to put in place process of arresting the murderous gang and making sure they are made to face prosecution to serve as deterrent to others, as failure to do such will embolden others to perpetrate such in future.
According to CAIDOV “the gruesome murder of the sokoto student is condemnable, wicked and criminal in all intents. We want to urge the state government to ensure the arrest and prosecution of all those behind the murderous act. The ongoing destruction is an attempt to prevent the government from investigating the murder, so Governor Aminu Tambuwal should not be distracted, but ensure justice is done in this matter by fishing out those responsible for the murder”.
Adding, the group said; “Until those responsible for the murder are arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law, such senseless act will continue. So, we enjoin Mr Governor to go all out and make sure members of this criminal gang are brought out to face the full wrath of the law to prevent future occurrence. The ongoing mindless and reckless looting is an attempt to prevent the government from doing what’s expected”.
The group equally used the opportunity to commiserate with the family of the deceased student for the unfortunate incident, promising it will continue to monitor events as they unfold, and will ensure justice is done in the matter, no matter who is involved.
