A right activist, Comrade Soyoye Ekundayo has described as commendable, efforts of the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu towards provision of sufficient housing units for the people of the state, saying, the governor has demonstrated the belief that the importance of accommodation to the citizenry can never be over emphasised.

The youthful activist, who is the Convener of a pro-democracy organization, the Progressive Volunteers (PV), in a telephone chat Monday morning was speaking on the heel of another ground-breaking of another Housing Units at the Ikorodu axis of the state which he described as further fulfilment of 2019 electioneering promise.

Recall that, on Thursday, November 25, Governor Sanwo-Olu held another ground breaking of another housing estate-LAGOSHOMS at Ibeshe, opposite the Nichemtex factory in Igbogbo Bayeku Council, via Ikorodu axis of Lagos State.

While expressing excitement over the new development, Soyoye said, the latest addition to the housing estate in the state was coming just a few days to the commissioning of the 11th Housing Estate within the first two years of his administration, saying, this has confirmed the governor’s promise to provide more affordable Housing for the good people of the state before the end of this year.

The PV leader, who was referring to the Bayview Estate, located at Ikate-Elegushi in the Lekki axis which consists of a 100-unit of 68 terraces of 4 bedrooms with a maid’s room each and 32 flats of 3 bedrooms also with a maid’s room, was of the conviction that, Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to provide shelters for the people in the state would surely address the housing deficit the state is battling with.

“It is also gratifying to note that, besides the major objective behind the housing project, its multiplier effects on employment for the youth would be heart-warming. Construction activities anywhere across the globe require heavy number of workforce. So, as the projects provide shelter for the people, its construction would give jobs to the youth. And through that, idle hands will be gainfully engaged while the crime rate would be drastically redused,” Soyoye submitted.

While urging the governor and his team not to look back in their efforts at serving the people with provision of the essentials of life, the youth leader also appeal to the people to reciprocate the administrations good gesture by supporting it and encourage the actors to do more in their duties to build an enduring legacy for the coming generations.
