A human right group, pro-democracy platform but non-governmental organization (NGO), the Royal Peoples Platform (RPP), has commended the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his other five colleagues in the south-west for their commitment to deepening democracy in the country.
Leader of the NGO, Prince Dare Aladekoba, in a chat with our correspondent in Lagos Tuesday was speaking on the heel of the 2-day public hearing on Review of Revenue Allocation Formula by the Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), that was hosted by the Lagos State Government.
The youthful activist expressed the delight that, the development was a right step towards the right direction because according to him, democracy is about dialogues and roundtable discussion, insisting that, jaw-jaw is better than war-war.
The impressed youthful right crusade said, the issue that has been brought down for discussion, in some climes, could have become subject of confrontation that could lead yto breach of the national peace, saying, the maturity Sanwo-Olu and his colleagues exhibited over the matter is commendable and praise-worthy.
Speaking Further, Aladekoba also expressed satisfaction with the quality of presentations and submissions of of the stakeholder at the event, pointing out that, if this type of roundtable dialogue is applied to other matters of national interest, the country would witness less confrontations that always lead to backwardness.
He gave kudos to all the attendees for their painstaking patience throughout the duration of the discourse and their sense of patriotism, saying, it takes a lot of patriotism to commit one’s precious time and energy to issues some might have considered unimportant.
Aladekoba further expressed excitement over the way and manner the Chairman, Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Engr. Elias N. Mbam monitored the proceedings without showing any sign of stress saying, “the man’s leadership quality deserves emulation.”
Concluding, the youthful youth leader said, his observation would not be complete “if I fail to recognize the role of my colleagues in the success story of the outing,” reminding that, “over 50 human right groups and pro-democracy activists stormed the venue under the leadership of Comrade Olokoba of the Campaign for Dignity I Governance (CDG).”
Apart from their attendance, Aladekoba said, “they also made meaningful contributions to the discourse,” asserting that, “the consequence of the outing, if fruitful, would go a long way in moving various states forward economically as the states and local governments that are closer to the people would have more revenue to cater for the people.”
