A Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Congress of Progressive Youth (CPY), has commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State over his ambitious plan for the state’s development in, describing the governor as a man of vision.
In a statement from the NGO’s Convener, Comrade Adebayo Oyenekan, said, Sanwo-Olu’s planning ahead for the state is a testimony that, his vision for the development of the state goes far beyond his tenure confirming him as a man that believes in government as a continuous entity.
According to the statement, the completion of the Pen Cinema Over Head Bridge by him has convinced the people that Sanwo-Olu is an administrator who believes in the chain of continuum in governance, praising him for setting good precedents for other administrators coming after him.
Recall that, during the opening of the Ehingbeti Lagos Economic Summit 2021, held last month, the government themed the Summit, “For a Greater Lagos: Setting the Tone for the Next Decade,” suggesting that, by 2030, Lagos State, which has the 5th largest economy in Africa, will have a number of development indices befitting its status on the continent.
The development plan, according to the Summit would entail a running city-wide network of colour-coded Metro Lines that will move over 34.5 million people monthly and cut travel time in the metropolis drastically
The group said it is gratifying and heart-warming to realise that the Governor, in his address, disclosed that, “the race to digitise every community in Lagos had begun with the on-going laying of 6,000-kilometre fibre optic infrastructure across the city with the Smart City agenda of the Government materialising fully by 2030 when the entire landscape of Lagos would have been covered by a network of several thousands of kilometres of fibre optic carrying broadband internet into all homes, offices and schools.
The CPY said Sanwo-Olu’s move to leverage technology to revolutionise business culture in Lagos by energising Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) that form the backbone of the State economy is to say the least, laudable and heart-warming, urging every well-meaning Nigerian to join the governor to look ahead at the next decade, and the possibilities of greater growth of the state.
In conclusion, the statement that stressed the need to support the laudable ideas of the governor asserted that, “he has further convinced us that we never made a mistake for giving him our mandate last year to be our governor,” said, “we owe it as a duty to give him maximum support to do more,” saying, he has not disappointed his people.
