President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has celebrated his wife, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, on her 66th birthday, describing her as his “truest friend and confidante” and expressing gratitude for her unwavering support throughout their journey together.
In a heartfelt birthday message issued on Monday, September 21, 2026, the President said the First Lady had stood by him with “patience, grace and uncommon courage” through every season of their lives.
Tinubu, who addressed his wife affectionately as “Oluremi mi,” said she had shared his burdens, offered counsel during difficult moments and remained a source of strength when the future appeared uncertain.
“Àwọn àgbà sọ pé, ‘Ìyàwó rere ni adé ọkọ rẹ̀.’ A good wife is her husband’s crown,” the President said, also referencing the biblical description of the virtuous woman in Proverbs.
According to Tinubu, Oluremi’s honesty and willingness to offer him counsel, even when it was difficult to hear, had strengthened their relationship over the years.
“I call you my truest friend and confidante because you speak the truth plainly, even on the days I would rather not hear it,” he said.
The President also praised the First Lady’s role in raising their children and grandchildren, saying their home bore “the lasting imprint” of her devotion, faith and prayers.
Tinubu noted that Nigerians had come to know Oluremi for her compassion, kindness, generosity and steadfast faith, particularly through her humanitarian initiatives.
He recalled her work through the New Era Foundation during their years in Lagos and the Renewed Hope Initiative, which he said had supported young people, widows, elderly citizens and women farmers across the country.
He also commended her advocacy for people affected by tuberculosis and other diseases, describing her as a compassionate advocate for vulnerable Nigerians.
The President said Oluremi’s compassion had transcended ethnic, regional and religious boundaries, noting that she had continued to pray for and assist people, including many she had never met.
Reflecting on their years together, Tinubu said their journey had been marked by difficult decisions, sacrifices, laughter and prayer.
He then delivered the most personal message in the tribute, saying he would make the same choice if given the opportunity to start their journey again.
“If life returned me to the beginning, I would choose the same road that led me to you. Through every mile, my heart has always remained at home with you,” Tinubu said.
The President thanked his wife for the life they had built together and prayed that God would grant her many more years in good health and joy.
“Happy 66th birthday, my darling Oluremi,” he said, wishing her comfort and happiness in the years ahead.
