A renowned right activist and public commentator, Comrade Razaq Olokoba has accused the Cable Network (CNN), of playing to the gallery and causing confusion in its reports over the alleged shooting and killing of #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate, Lagos on Tuesday, October 20 this year.

Olokoba, who is also the National Convener, Campaign for Dignity in Governance (CDG), through a statement described the Cable’s reports on the trending issue as, “unnecessarily sensational, playing to the gallery, misleading and inciting,” wondering how that respected media outfit could be muddling things up and misrepresenting facts.

The concerned activist expressed wonderment that, even after some of its so called evidences of alleged massacre at the Tollgate had been empirically punctured by renowned experts of global repute; CNN still arrogantly insisted mass killing of the protesters happened at the scene through the bullets from the military guns!

“It is annoying that, having discovered that most of CNN’s mentioned as Lekki massacre victims are either still alive or not missing, while some of the mentioned victims either died through different means earlier or after the time of the incident and at different locations, the CNN still adamantly misleads the public with its reports that are far from the truth,”Olokoba stated.

Some questions that are begging for answers, according to the CDG boss are, why was it that, at the scene of a massacre, no bullet riddled bodies were found, and why there was no blood stained object within the vicinity of the scene?!

Olokoba however reminded the CNN that, what matters most to the good people of Lagos State now is any attitude that could assist in the rapid rebuilding of the state after the wanton destruction visited on the state by the hoodlums that infiltrated the genuine protester and not any negative act capable of undermining the laudable efforts of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to steer the economy of the state back to its proper footing.

While admitting that CNN is known to a credible media outfit, the popular public commentator and political observer was of the conviction that, “that however does not confer on it an error proof toga on it,” saying, the tendency of human imperfection could not be ruled out.

He, in addition reminded that Lagos State is blessed with globally respected experts across the entire human endeavour that have studied the situation at the Lekki Toll Gate and frowned at the CNN reports considered to be incorrect, sentimental and biased.

Olokoba then gave kudos to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu on the mature manner he handled and identified with the genuine #EndSARS protesters, reminding how he walked with them, listened to them and personally taking their letter of grievances to President Muhammadu Buhari at the seat of power in Abuja.

He therefore warned that, any attempt from any quarter, from both within and outside to rubbish the good work of the award winning governor would be resisted, asserting that, Sanwo-Olu’s performance in office that that has earned him national and international accolades deserves recognition and appreciation from all well-meaning people across the world.

The youth leader then seize the opportunity to urge the governor to remain ever focussed on his mandate schedules without allowing any concocted reports to detract him from the onerous task of state building, assuring, “the good people of Lagos are solidly behind him and would continue to give him their maximum support to take the state to the enviable world standard.”
