A human right group, Black Youth Vanguard, has said that, its confidence in Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State is still intact because of his uprightness and trust worthiness, whose integrity as a tested and trusted administrator still remain intact.
Convener of the group, Comrade James Adeyemi made the remarks in a chat with newsmen in Lagos weekend where he expressed his group’s confidence in Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu over his promise to repair the portion causing the residents along Lagos-Badagry Expressway a nightmare.
According to Adeyemi, with Sanwo-Olu’s promise, the affected residents can go to sleep and even snore because he has never reneged in any promise he had made, reminding that his kept electioneering promises last year gave him the pass mark he scored in his first year in office.
Sanwo-Olu, the group leader continued, has proved beyond reasonable doubt that, he is a reliable person that can be trusted, asserting that, his performance in office in a short time was not a fluke but a testimony that he was prepared for the office before he was given the mandate to occupy it.
“Through his performance so far, even the opposition leadership had also testified to the competence of Sanwo-Olu as an administrator of no mean repute. He has proved beyond doubt that, he is a responsible and responsive governor who harkens to the needs of the people with military precision.
“Sanwo-Olu could not afford to see his people suffer because he is mindful of the fact that the reason for mandate given to him by them to be their governor, was to make them happy, comfortable and safe,” Adeyemi submited.
On that note, the youth leader therefore commended the governor and his competent lieutenants for their commitment to the good of the people despite the deadly coronavirus nicknamed COVID-19 that is ravaging the whole world.
Adeyemi therefore, expressed the delights that, despite that, Sanwo-Olu’s administration still remains focused and has never lost focus for a second in the art of governance, saying, of the special attraction to Sanwo-Olu is the way and manner he addresses the issue of the coronavirus pandemic along with his normal duties as the governor of the most populous state in the country.
“He is also effectively performing all other functions of governance. Sentiment apart, the Lagos administration under the watchful eyes of Sanwo-Olu is doing perfectly. We have to thank the team that comprises the Commissioners, government functionaries and other political appointees for their cooperation with the governor. They should know that their efforts for a better Lagos are recognised, noted and appreciated.
“So, at this juncture, we have to call on the people of Lagos and other nationals resident in the state to keep on giving Sanwo-Olu’s administration more support to encourage the team to do more. We assure this winning team of adequate rewards at the fullness of time.
The renowned activist therefore called on the governor to intensify concentration by keeping his eyes fixedly on the ball the way he did in his first year in office that earned him national and international commendation, assuring him that, “the people he is serving well are taking note with a view to appreciating his performance in due course.”
He told the governor to understand the insatiable nature of man that would always ask for more of good things like the proverbial Oliver Twist, expressing enthusiasm that, “Sanwo-Olu would be equal to the task as usual whenever he is eventually put on his toes by his people.
“People would not stop demanding for more of good things you have been giving them in forms of good governance, more job opportunities, security of lives and property, more of good healthcare delivery, food security and good standard of education,” Adeyemi submitted.
Concluding, the activist assured the people that the governor would not relent in his quest to raise to the next level, his first anniversary performance in all the sectors of the economy like creation of more employment spaces, widening of Internally Generated revenue (IGR) base, guaranteeing conducive atmosphere for businesses and securing the lives and property of the citizenry.
