The Convener of the SMA Movement and governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, Dr. Samuel Mawuyon Ajose, has assured that continued mobilisation across the state will translate into a landslide victory for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
He also noted that the capacity to deliver on this promise has been demonstrated over time, while urging members to ensure the message reaches the grassroots in order to prevent a repeat of the 2023 presidential poll results in the state.
Dr. Samuel Mawuyon Ajose gave this assurance during the SMA Movement General Assembly strategic meeting with Local Government and LCDA coordinators across Lagos State, held at the Grandeur Event Centre, Billings Way, Oregun, Ikeja, Lagos.
Ajose, who insisted that he is in the race to ensure victory for both the President and the governorship seat, noted that he has brought a large number of party members together under the SMA Movement for the same goal.
According to him, several consultations within the party are ongoing. He recalled that the President emerged as the party’s candidate through primaries and not consensus, urging the party to test the strength of aspirants, with the assurance that whoever emerges will enjoy the support of others.
He also thanked the party leadership for the opportunity given to the group to contribute to the stability and development of the party in the state.
Dr. Ajose was of the view that the narrative of Badagry has changed with the movement’s slogan, but expressed concern that despite its economic potential, the area has been neglected since the creation of Lagos State in 1967.
On his part, the Director-General of the Movement, Mr. Biodun Coker, expressed optimism that the SMA Movement will reach Alausa by 2027, noting that the will of the people will ultimately prevail.
He clarified that endorsement is allowed under the constitution but stressed that what the people want is for aspirants to go through primaries.
Also speaking, a party leader in Lagos Island, Chief Rasheed Shobaloju, pointed out that the SMA Movement started in a room but is now known across the country, especially in the South-West, with massive billboards supporting the re-election of President Tinubu in 2027.
He maintained that no one has invested in the party like the SMA Movement and expressed confidence that God alone determines who attains positions.
The Chairman of the SMA Movement, Dr. Babatunde Olaide-Mesewaku, thanked coordinators at the ward level for their trust and confidence in the mandate.
Similarly, the Badagry Division applauded the growing support for Dr. Samuel Ajose’s aspiration, assuring continued loyalty to the party and mobilisation efforts for the President.
Adding her voice, a former member of the House of Representatives from Badagry, Hon. Rafeequat Arinola Onabamiro, reassured that bloc votes from women in Lagos will go to President Tinubu and the party’s governorship candidate in the 2027 polls.
According to her, their priority is to keep the party strong, adding that Dr. Samuel Mawuyon Ajose is a trusted and reliable member who has paid his dues.
Coordinators of the SMA Movement from the 20 Local Government Areas, 37 LCDAs, and 376 wards were in attendance at the General Assembly, which endorsed the re-election of President Tinubu.
