As Nigeria navigates mounting economic pressures and social challenges, the Amir and Lead Imam of the Lagos State House of Assembly Muslim Community, Abdushshakur Adeleke Osoala, has called for both spiritual renewal among citizens and decisive action from government to ease the burden on the populace.
In a goodwill message marking the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr, Imam Osoala extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the holy month of Ramadan, while situating the significance of the season within the broader realities confronting the nation.
He congratulated Muslims for their discipline, devotion, and sacrifices during Ramadan, urging them not to abandon the virtues cultivated throughout the fasting period, especially at a time when the country is in need of moral and social rebirth.
According to him, the essence of Ramadan goes far beyond abstinence from food and drink, stressing that its true value lies in character transformation, increased piety, acts of charity, and peaceful coexistenceβqualities he described as critical to national development.
βEid-el-Fitr is a moment of joy and celebration, but it also serves as a reminder that the righteous deeds, patience, generosity, and devotion exhibited during Ramadan should not end with the season. We must strive to sustain these virtues in our daily lives,β he stated.
The cleric called on Muslims to continue in the spirit of giving, compassion, and unity, noting that consistent acts of kindness and adherence to Islamic teachings are essential for building a peaceful, stable, and progressive society.
Addressing the state of the nation, Imam Osoala urged government at all levels to intensify efforts toward addressing the rising cost of goods and the prevailing economic challenges facing citizens. He emphasized the need for sustainable and people-focused policies that would ease hardship and significantly improve the standard of living.
He also encouraged members of the Muslim community to remain steadfast in prayers, support one another, and promote harmony within the Lagos State House of Assembly and the wider society.
Imam Osoala prayed for continued peace, prosperity, and divine guidance for all Muslim faithful, urging them to make the lessons of Ramadan a lifelong commitment for the betterment of the nation.
