…Hon. Bisi Yusuff, Hon. Ojelabi, Hon. Ayuba, and Uzamot call for a massive e-membership registration drive
The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, has applauded the Executive Chairman of Agbado Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Abiodun Jimoh Isola Ejigbadero, as he launched a far-reaching environmental sanitation and service-delivery initiative with the inauguration of a Special Task Force on the Agbado Oke-Odo Clean-Up Campaign and the distribution of 15 utility vehicles to strategic institutions across the council.
The Speaker, who was represented by Hon. Kehinde Joseph, a member representing Alimosho Constituency 02 in the State Assembly, made the commendation at the ceremony held today at the council secretariat.
The event was attended by the Alimosho apex leader and the DG of the Grassroots Movement for Tinubu (GMT), Hon. Bisi Yusuff; the state chairman of the party, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, who was ably represented by Mayegun; the member representing Alimosho Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba; the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development, Bolaji Kayode Robert; Hon. Olufemi Adebanjo; Uzamat Akinbile Yussuf; traditional rulers, community leaders, religious bodies, and residents, among others.
Speaking at the event, the council boss said his administration has deliberately pursued people-oriented policies aimed at improving safety, welfare, and quality of life in the LCDA.
He noted that the council has intensified security collaboration, widened educational access through the provision of free GCE forms to 500 indigent students, and embarked on key road and drainage interventions to address long-standing infrastructure challenges.
He added that healthcare delivery has been strengthened through free medical outreaches, the acquisition of an ambulance, and sustained support for primary health centres, while staff welfare has also received priority attention.
According to him, the council has continued to promote peace and social cohesion and has provided direct economic relief to residents through the Renewed Hope Monthly Cash Grant, with 300 beneficiaries receiving N100,000 each in the programme’s first phase.
The chairman explained that the Clean-Up Campaign is designed to enforce environmental discipline and protect public health. With the formal inauguration of the Special Task Force, he announced that indiscriminate dumping of refuse in drainages, road medians, and other unauthorised locations now constitutes an offence in Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA.
He warned that offenders will be prosecuted before the customary court and fined N250,000, stressing that the council will take firm action against practices that encourage filth and the spread of disease.
To ensure compliance, he disclosed that the council has rolled out public awareness campaigns, including Yoruba and Pidgin English radio jingles, to educate residents on proper waste disposal and the objectives of the clean-up drive.
He appealed to residents to partner with the council in maintaining a clean environment, noting that environmental hygiene is critical to preventing communicable diseases and safeguarding public well-being.
Reiterating his belief in inclusive governance, the chairman said the presentation of 15 utility vehicles reflects the administration’s commitment to empowering institutions that work directly with the council to deliver services.
Beneficiaries include security agencies, traditional and community bodies, religious organisations, market associations, the council’s clean-up enforcement team, labour unions, revenue units, the Office of the Executive Chairman, and the health sector, which received an ambulance.
He charged recipient institutions to deploy the vehicles responsibly and strictly for official duties that advance development and service efficiency within the LCDA.
Assuring residents of sustained, people-focused development, he said no community or stakeholder group would be marginalised under his leadership, adding that Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA is firmly on a path of progress driven by accountability and clear purpose.
The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development, Bolaji Kayode Robert, commended the council boss for aligning his administration’s policies with the T.H.E.M.E+ agenda of Governor Sanwo-Olu, adding that it shows the LCDA is on the right track for meaningful development.
Hon. Bisi Yusuff, Hon. Ojelabi, Hon. Ayuba, and Uzamot commended Ejigbadero for his administration’s achievements within a short period in office and also called for a massive mobilisation drive in the ongoing e-membership registration exercise of the party in the LCDA.
