YABATECH Gentlemen’s Circle Celebrates Three Distinguished Members at Grand Leadership Awards Night

The spirit of excellence, unity, and celebration radiated through Finicky Hall, Yaba, Lagos, on Saturday, May 31, 2025, as the Gentlemen’s Circle of the Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) Accountancy Alumni (ND 94/HND 98 set) honoured three of their own with Distinguished Leadership Awards.

The prestigious awards, bestowed in recognition of outstanding professional achievements and leadership in public service, went to:

•Ayo Adeonipekun, FCA, newly appointed Registrar/Chief Executive of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers

•Dr. Yemi Sanni, FCA, PhD, newly appointed Commissioner, Tax Appeal Tribunal, Federal Government of Nigeria

•Ruth Okunbor, FCA, Ex-Chairperson of the Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria (SWAN), Edo State Chapter

Hosted in an atmosphere of class and camaraderie, the ceremony drew dignitaries, friends, and alumni from across the country.

The event, powered by The Gentlemen’s Circle, showcased the strength of alumni bonds, mutual support, and shared aspirations.

The planning committee was chaired by Leke Jibodu, supported by Olowa Sunday, Azeez Adeyinka, Femi Ambode, Tayo Adebayo and Wasiu Osoba, with Kayode Oke serving as Chairman of the Fundraising Subcommittee.

In his opening speech, Mr. Micheal Adeyemi FCA, Chairman of Yaba Tech alumni, described the event as “a proud and defining moment for the alumni group,” applauding the meticulous planning and flawless execution that made the night unforgettable.

“I have no doubt that we are proud today. Our actions today are exemplary and inspiring,” he said.

Mr. Adeleke jibodu, Chairman Gentlemen Circle in his goodwill message extended his heartfelt congratulations not only to Ayo Adeonipekun but also to the other honorees, describing Dr. Yemi Sanni as a beacon of professional integrity and Ruth Okunbor as “our superb woman.”

“I pray more of our mates will continue to shine and do even greater things to inspire the next EXPERIENCE,” he added, emphasizing the ripple effect such achievements have on upcoming generations of professionals.

The celebration was more than an awards night—it was a powerful reminder of what shared history, excellence, and vision can produce when harnessed for collective progress.
