…38 Disqualified Over Lack of PVCs, Party Membership Cards, and Fake Certificates
The Electoral Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has released the list of successful Chairmanship aspirants ahead of the July 12 Local Government Elections.
The screening exercise, which involved 470 aspirants, was conducted between Tuesday, April 29 and Friday, May 3 at the party’s Secretariat on Acme Road, Ogba.
Out of the total number screened, 432 aspirants were cleared to contest in the party primaries, while 38 were either disqualified or voluntarily withdrew from the race.
The committee cited lack of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), missing party membership cards, and submission of fake secondary school results as the primary reasons for disqualification.
According to the party’s guidelines, the indirect primaries—to be conducted by executive members across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 LCDAs—will be held on Saturday, May 10.
Disqualified aspirants have the opportunity to appeal the decision between Sunday, May 4 and Monday, May 5. Those dissatisfied with the outcome of the primaries may submit their petitions to the Appeal Committee from May 12 to 13.
Speaking exclusively to TheNewsNow.org, Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee, Barr. Babatunde Ogala, described the screening exercise as successful, adding that all cleared aspirants have the capacity to perform effectively at the grassroots level.
A gender breakdown of the aspirants showed that 411 were male, while 59 were female, underscoring increasing female participation in local governance.
