The Centre for Development Communication (CDC), formerly known as MAWA Foundation, has been awarded the prestigious Acquisition International Non-Profit Organization Award 2025 for Best Community Engagement in Nigeria.
The award, which recognizes outstanding, purpose-driven non-profit initiatives across the globe, was conferred on CDC in acknowledgment of its impactful communication strategies and grassroots development work in communities across Nigeria.
In a statement issued by the Centre’s Director, Audu Liberty Oseni, the organization expressed pride in receiving the international honour, describing it as “a validation that our work is making a real, measurable impact on the communities we serve.”
“This recognition celebrates our commitment to empowering communities through effective communication, participatory practices, and sustainable development initiatives,” Oseni noted. “Our programmes, projects, and outreach efforts are being recognized internationally as among the best in Nigeria.”
The CDC’s model, rooted in participatory communication and community-led development, has been hailed for its sustainability and effectiveness in driving social change.
The organization credited its success to the collaborative efforts of partners, stakeholders, and the communities it serves.
“We dedicate this award to all our partners, stakeholders, and community members whose support and collaboration make our work possible. We remain committed to amplifying voices, driving impact, and advancing meaningful change across Nigeria and beyond,” Oseni said.
