The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has confirmed that the upcoming local government elections in the state will be conducted across its 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
This assurance was contained in a press statement signed by the APC State Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, on Sunday, 29 December 2024.
Ojelabi addressed growing concerns over the fate of the LCDAs, created during the administration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, now President of Nigeria, following a recent Supreme Court judgment on local government autonomy.
He emphasized that the LCDAs remain critical to grassroots development and governance in Lagos State.
“The Local Government elections will hold across the state in the 20 Local Government Councils and the 37 Local Council Development Areas in the year 2025,” Ojelabi affirmed.
The APC leader highlighted the LCDAs’ contributions to the state’s socio-economic and infrastructural development, urging Lagosians to disregard speculations and remain united as the state prepares for the polls.
