Vice President Kamala Harris has formally conceded the 2024 presidential election, extending her congratulations to President-elect Donald Trump during a phone call on Wednesday.
A senior aide confirmed that Harris “called President-elect Trump to acknowledge his victory, stressing the importance of a peaceful transition and his commitment to serving all Americans.”
A source familiar with the conversation said the call was brief, lasting only a few minutes.
In a statement, Trump’s campaign commended Harris for her “resilience, professionalism, and determination” throughout the campaign, adding that both leaders emphasized the need to unite the nation.
Harris is expected to make a statement at 4 p.m. ET at Howard University, her alma mater.
