With Heavy Hearts, Nigeria’s First Lady and Others Pay Tribute to Late Chief of Army Staff

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Taoreed Lagbaja.

Accompanied by the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, and the wife of the National Security Adviser, Hajia Ribadu, the First Lady was received by Mrs. Oghogho Musa, wife of the Chief of Defence Staff. Together, they prayed for the family.

“It is with a heavy heart that I received the sad news of the demise of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Taoreed Lagbaja.

“Throughout his career, the late Chief of Army Staff exemplified valor, patriotism, and unwavering dedication to the service of our dear country.

“I extend my deepest condolences to his wife, Mrs. Mariya Abiodun Lagbaja, his children, family, friends, colleagues, and associates. May Almighty God comfort them and grant them the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace ,” Senator Tinubu stated.

While comforting Mrs. Mariya Abiodun Lagbaja and the children, Senator Tinubu noted that only the Lord can determine when a man dies.

She urged them to be comforted by the good life and legacy he left behind and encouraged the children to remain focused and pursue the ideals their father stood for.

The late Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Taoreed Lagbaja, passed away after a period of illness at the age of 56.
