According to the Turkish website Sozcu, Galatasaray is not willing to pay more than €50M to purchase Victor Osimhen from Napoli in January.
The Turkish champions are keen to secure the Nigerian striker, who has a €75M release clause.
Osimhen is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, but the Turkish club does not have an option to make his move permanent.
The striker’s release clause was reduced to €75M when he completed his loan move in September, but according to Sozcu, Galatasaray cannot afford to pay that much to sign the Napoli forward outright.
The report indicates that Galatasaray’s directors can reach €50M with the help of a sponsor. The plan is to secure Osimhen in the January transfer window to outpace other potential suitors.
Chelsea was in talks with the 25-year-old and Napoli in August but failed to finalize the deal, leading Osimhen to join Galatasaray on loan after the summer transfer window closed for top European leagues and the Saudi Pro League.
Osimhen recently reiterated that he would not leave Galatasaray before the season’s end. Italian sources claim his release clause for January is set at €90M, although Galatasaray may be able to acquire him for less.
Currently, Osimhen is thriving in Istanbul, having quickly settled into life in the Turkish capital, with four goals and four assists in seven appearances for Galatasaray.
He is adored by fans who chant his name during matches, but his impressive performances keep him on the radar of numerous clubs, including Saudi Pro League giants Al Ahly and Chelsea.
