The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has donated ₦40 million and various food items to victims of the recent tanker explosion in Majiya village, Jigawa State.
The donation was presented on her behalf by a delegation led by Hajia Fatima Tajudeen Abbass, wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, at the Government House in Dutse.
While handing over the cheque and food supplies to Hadiza Umar Namadi, wife of the state governor, the First Lady expressed her deep concern for the victims and assured the state of her continued support and prayers.
Governor Mallam Umar Namadi, in his response, expressed gratitude to the First Lady and reassured the delegation that the funds and items would be used judiciously to aid the victims. He also thanked the President for his prompt and compassionate response to the tragedy, noting that some of the victims are already showing signs of recovery under medical care.
Hadiza Umar Namadi, receiving the donation on behalf of the state, described the First Lady’s gesture as a demonstration of motherly love, unity, and solidarity during a difficult time for the state.
The delegation also visited the Rasheed Shekoni Federal University Teaching Hospital in Dutse, where some victims are currently receiving medical treatment.
