The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reaffirmed that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is focused on education and youth development.
She emphasized that this focus is crucial to ensuring a formidable future not just for the youth but for the nation as a whole.
Senator Oluremi Tinubu also assured that the administration will deliver on its promises to Nigerians.
She made these remarks during the commissioning of a 2.7km road and ultra-modern male and female hostels at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
“It is worthy of note that the administration of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, is focused on education and youth development, ensuring that all our youth have unhindered access to education, irrespective of their financial status. To this end, the National Students Loan Scheme was introduced, and I urge all our youth across the country to take advantage of this opportunity.”
“The significance of continuous infrastructure renewal cannot be overemphasized in creating a conducive academic environment. Roads have always been a symbol of progress, opening up pathways to safety and economic growth.”
She further noted that collective efforts are needed to support the Federal Government’s pursuit of a greater nation, particularly in the education sector and infrastructure renewal, as exemplified by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, through the construction of the hostels and road.
“At this juncture, I commend and thank His Imperial Majesty for celebrating his Golden Jubilee in such a noble manner. Fifty years is not just a marker of time but a testament to wisdom and leadership. The deep-rooted love you have shown for your people and kingdom since your ascension to the throne is heartwarming and commendable. Part of the activities leading up to the big day is the commissioning of a 2.7-kilometer road named after me within the premises of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, my Alma Mater. I am humbled, and I thank you, Kabiyesi.”
“I hope this road will become a valuable asset for the university and facilitate easy access for students and the entire university community.”
Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who lamented the state of infrastructure at the institution, pledged support to help restore its glory, committing N1 billion from the Renewed Hope Initiative. She also called on the wives of state governors to lend a helping hand.
Governor Ademola Adeleke, represented by his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, commended the various initiatives of the President and the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, noted that the revived Student Loan Scheme by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a step in the right direction for fixing the education sector.
The First Lady inaugurated three key infrastructural projects: a 2.7-kilometer road named after her, and the Ojaja male and female students’ hostels and pavilion, all executed by the traditional ruler, Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, in commemoration of his 50th birthday.
The monarch described the First Lady as a compassionate, devoted, and caring woman with a heart for God.
The First Lady, an alumna of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, was presented with various paintings by a group of orphans and former street boys and men being reintegrated into society by the Ooni of Ife.
