According to eyewitness reports, the pedestrian was walking along the road when the driver, disregarding traffic rules, lost control and hit him. The impact left the victim with severe injuries to multiple parts of his body.

Swiftly responding to the scene, officers from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) provided immediate first aid before rushing the victim to Comfort Hospital, Mafoluku, for urgent medical attention.

LASTMA officers, acting promptly, apprehended the driver at the scene. The driver, along with the vehicle, was handed over to the Mafoluku Police Station for further investigation.

Speaking on the incident, LASTMA General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed his concern for the victim’s condition and wished him a speedy recovery.

He also reiterated the agency’s dedication to enforcing road safety regulations, urging drivers to adhere strictly to traffic laws to avoid similar tragedies.

“We will not tolerate any form of recklessness on our roads,” Mr. Bakare-Oki said. “The safety of both pedestrians and motorists is our priority, and we will ensure that offenders face the full weight of the law.”

LASTMA continues to call on all road users to drive responsibly, reminding them that compliance with traffic regulations is crucial in protecting lives and preventing accidents.
