The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has reiterated the call for Nigerians to become more involved in agricultural production.
She made this statement during a meeting with the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed, at her office in the State House, Abuja.
The First Lady emphasized that the various interventions of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), particularly in agriculture, empowerment, education, health, and social welfare, are intended to complement the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
She praised the president’s decisions, stating that they would contribute to building a more respected Nigeria and emphasized the importance of accountability regarding national resources.
The First Lady stressed the need to inspire youth to prioritize national unity over state or tribal affiliations, citing the #ONE NIGERIA/Unity Fabric initiative organized by RHI, where youths aged 15 to 25 design fabrics representing Nigeria as a whole.
She also highlighted RHI’s monthly Food Outreach Program for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and persons with disabilities.
Despite challenges, she affirmed her commitment to serving the people.
In her remarks, Deputy Secretary-General Aisha Mohammed encouraged increased funding commitment to youth, women, and girls’ initiatives and expressed the United Nations’ readiness to collaborate with RHI, recognizing The First Lady’s passion for these causes.
The visit also served as an opportunity to introduce the new Resident Coordinator of the UN in Nigeria, Mohamed Moustapha Malik Fall, to the First Lady.
