First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, believes that education is the most powerful weapon in the fight against terrorism, as she receives four rescued female students from Federal University, Dutsin Ma.

Senator Tinubu made this statement at the State House Presidential Villa when she welcomed four of the five rescued students from Federal University Dutsin-Ma.

She expressed joy in reuniting the students with their families and acknowledged the pain they endured during their abduction on October 5, 2023.

Tinubu commended the efforts of law enforcement agencies and thanked God for their safe return.

The First Lady assured the girls of the Federal Government’s commitment, as well as the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), to support them psychologically and with their education as they recover from their 70-day captivity.

She emphasized the importance of not letting their experience hinder their educational pursuits and career interests.

Tinubu encouraged the girls to turn this episode into a story of triumph and assured them of guidance and support from RHI.

Senator Tinubu acknowledged the difficulties faced by the girls and other Nigerians who have been kidnapped but expressed confidence in the determination and tenacity of the security and intelligence forces, along with the support of all Nigerians, to overcome this challenge.

Each rescued girl received a Scholarship Grant of One Million Naira and a brand-new laptop from RHI.

The Federal Government also provided Two Million Naira to the parents of each rescued girl and One Million Naira to the Vice Chancellor of the University.

Tinubu expressed gratitude for the safe return of the girls and commended the leadership role of the Office of the National Security Adviser and the effective coordination of law enforcement agencies in ensuring their safe return and the release of all Nigerians held against their will.

The meeting was attended by the parents of the rescued girls, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Dutsin Ma Katsina, the Representative of the Inspector General of Police, and the National Counter Terrorism Legal Officer.
